Japanese video game giant Nintendo
unveiled on Wednesday, the latest model of its video game console, Wii,
which allows users to play various virtual games with a TV remote-like
wireless controller.
Wii uses a motion-sensor enabled controller that looks like a TV remote and allows users to direct action on the screen by wielding it like a sword or swinging it like a baseball bat, tennis racket or golf club.
"Nintendo's business strategy has been clear and consistent over the past three years: that is to expand video gamers' population by offering products that can be enjoyed by everybody no matter what their age, gender or past video game experience may be," Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata said.
Iwata was speaking at a press conference
in Tokyo where Nintendo gave a preview of the latest game machine to a
small group of journalists and other guests.
